We are seeking a skilled PCA - Inpatient Surgery to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Responsibilities- Assist with basic patient care, including vital sign monitoring, toileting, and feeding, under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Perform selected procedures, such as specimen collections, urine testing, and enemas, as directed by licensed personnel.
- Maintain a clean and organized patient care environment, including storage and utility areas.
- Orient patients to the unit and secure patient valuables.
- Respond to call lights and provide necessary assistance to patients.
- Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition to licensed personnel.
- Assist with reinforcement of incentive spirometry and reapplies oxygen equipment as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
- High school graduate or equivalent and graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year medical/surgical or equivalent experience preferred.
- Nurse Aide Certification or equivalent required.
