Job Summary

The Water Resources Engineering Division at Brudis & Associates, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team in Columbia, Maryland. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of water resources engineering projects, including stormwater management, erosion control, and environmental site design.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Coordinate design elements across various engineering disciplines to develop plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Communicate design progress with project managers and utilize entry-level design engineers to complete tasks.
  • Maintain a firm understanding of the permit process for various permit review agencies.
  • Lead designer for project development, including roadway drainage, open and closed drainage systems, environmental site design, stormwater management, erosion/sediment control, stream restoration, bridge scour analysis, floodplain studies, hydrology/hydraulics, TMDL, Critical Area, NPDES & MS-4 permits, SWM retrofits and BMPs, Joint-Permit Application (JPA).
Qualifications and Skills
  • BSCE in Civil Engineering or appropriate discipline.
  • 5-7 years of design experience in appropriate discipline.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in applicable jurisdiction (or ability to apply for reciprocity).
  • Strong CAD skills, proficient using Microstation and associated design software with strong computer skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide guidance and share technical knowledge with entry-level engineers.
  • Ability to work well within a project team by building relationships and teamwork.
  • Work independently on smaller projects or portions of larger transportation design projects.
  • Utilize hydraulic and hydrologic modeling programs and techniques including TR-20, TR-55, HEC-2, HEC-HMS, ABSCOUR, HEC-18 and HY-8.
  • Ability to work GIS programs, Microstation, Auto CAD, and other engineering software programs.
  • Working knowledge of Hydrology/Hydraulic Modeling Software.
  • High-level of integrity, ethics, quality of service, and safety.
  • Maintain a positive rapport with supervisor and employees.
  • Ability to travel to project sites.
