Patient Service Representative III PRN

As a Patient Service Representative III PRN at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, you will play a vital role in ensuring a positive patient experience. Your primary responsibility will be to greet patients and conduct daily interactions in a professional and courteous manner, demonstrating a strong understanding of the hospital's mission, vision, and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interview patients to obtain complete and accurate financial and insurance information
- Verify required authorizations as needed
- Answer telephone calls and route them to the appropriate party
- Act as a liaison between the hospital, physician, insurance company, and other healthcare agencies
- Handle collections of monies from patients at the time of registration
- Observe strict confidentiality in dealing with patients and patient information
- Schedule patient appointments and procedures
- Verify pain management benefits, insurance coverage, and obtain authorization for all visits and/or special procedures
Requirements:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a customer service setting
- Ability to type 30-40 wpm
- Knowledge of medical terminology and third-party payers, and computer literacy with Windows-based programs
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, meet and communicate with the public in a courteous and professional manner, and handle difficult customers or situations
- Ability to function in multiple tasks, prioritize duties, and demonstrate initiative and self-direction
Work Environment:
The urgent care centers are open 7 days a week, 8am-8pm. Evenings, weekends, and holidays are required. Shifts can vary from 8-hour shifts to 10 and 12-hour shifts. Flexibility to work all 7 of our urgent care locations is also required, however, schedule location preferences will be taken into consideration.
