Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Sonographer at Prisma Health, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care services using diagnostic medical sonography. Under the direction of the manager and medical director, you will work independently to identify patients, review physician orders, and perform ultrasound procedures to accurately differentiate between normal and pathological findings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify patients using two demographic identifiers and review physician orders for the procedure to be performed.
  • Check for appropriate clinical information and expected dates, as well as procedural contraindications.
  • Perform all ultrasound procedures using independent judgment during the sonographic exam.
  • Analyze sonograms, synthesizing sonographic information and medical history, and communicate findings to the appropriate physician.
  • Ensure imaging quality meets quality control standards, including all protocol requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date on organizational, affiliate, and departmental changes/updates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including maintaining a sanitary and organized environment, stocking work areas with linens and supplies, and disposing of used supplies and bio-hazardous materials.
Requirements
  • Completion of a radiology or sonography program from an accredited institution.
  • Credentialed Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Must obtain one or more of the following credentials with ARDMS: Abdomen, OBGYN, and Pediatric.
  • Breast credential through ARDMS prior to 2011 will be accepted if that is the only credential at manager's discretion.
  • BLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier).
  • Data entry skills.
  • Mathematical skills.
  • Patient equipment - vitals, suction, defib.
  • ARRT in Radiology - preferred.
  • PACS experience - preferred.
  • EMR experience.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
