Position Overview: The Invasive Cardiovascular Technician (ICT) is an entry-level role within the Cardiac Catheterization or Electrophysiology Laboratory, primarily aimed at building foundational knowledge and skills. This position involves providing safe patient care at a fundamental level while progressively enhancing the ability to manage more complex cases in the roles of scrub and circulator during sterile cardiac procedures. The ICT will work under the guidance of seasoned professionals and benefit from constructive feedback.

Work Environment: The organization operates multiple independent Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology labs. The Cath lab technician assists patients undergoing various procedures, including coronary angiograms and interventional treatments, while the EP lab technician supports patients in receiving pacemaker insertions and heart rhythm ablations. Both labs are integral to a nationally recognized pediatric cardiology and heart surgery program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform specialized roles within the invasive cardiovascular procedure setting.
  • Operate advanced technology under the supervision of a qualified physician to assist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for heart and vascular diseases.
  • Ensure the imaging systems are operated correctly under the direct supervision of an authorized physician, adhering to safety standards.
  • Assist the lab team in managing critical care and complex patients.
  • Demonstrate initiative in seeking learning and development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the effective operation of the department.
  • Accept coaching and mentoring from colleagues, maintaining an openness to feedback.
  • Understand and align with the organization's mission and values.
  • Familiarize oneself with procedural protocols and departmental policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding patient and employee information.
  • Exhibit a positive and professional demeanor in all communications.

Compensation Range: $42.82 Hourly

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited medical education program such as CVT, EMT, Paramedic, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, Sonography, or a related Health Sciences degree. Radiography Technician preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of clinical patient care experience is strongly preferred.
  • Licensure: Certification in Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association is required. Preparation for ACLS certification is expected, subject to managerial discretion.

Physical Demands:
This role requires prolonged periods of sitting and standing, frequent bending, stooping, walking, and reaching. The ability to lift, push, or pull weights between 50-100 lbs is necessary. Proficiency in communication, auditory, and visual skills is essential, along with attention to detail and legible writing. The position may involve exposure to various environmental factors.
