Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist to join our team at the University of Virginia. As a key member of our Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired heart and peripheral vascular disease.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized technologist roles within the invasive cardiovascular procedure setting, including scrubbing, circulating, and monitoring patients undergoing cardiac catheterizations and electrophysiology procedures.
  • Operate high-technology equipment under the direction of a qualified physician to assist with procedures and ensure accurate imaging and patient safety.
  • Collaborate with the lab team to manage critical care and complex patients, and provide expert knowledge and guidance to junior staff members.
  • Participate in quality initiatives, unit-based projects, and workgroups to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide exceptional patient-centered care.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited formal medical education program, such as CVT, EMT, Paramedic, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, Sonography, or Associate's Degree or greater in a Health Sciences related field.
  • At least 2 years of clinical patient care experience, preferably in a cardiovascular or invasive procedure setting.
  • American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Preparing for certification in ACLS, with manager discretion.
Working Conditions

This position requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping/walking, and repetitive motion. The ability to lift/push/pull 50-100lbs and wear lead aprons for extended periods is also required. May be exposed to chemicals, cold, dust, noise, radiation, blood/body fluids/infectious disease.
