Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist to join our team at the University of Virginia Health System. As a key member of our Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized technologist roles within the invasive cardiovascular procedure setting, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.
  • Operate high-technology equipment under the direction of a qualified physician to assist with procedures performed on patients with congenital and acquired heart and peripheral vascular disease.
  • Ensure imaging systems are properly operated under the direct supervision of an authorized physician user of radiation-emitting imaging equipment, consistently meeting radiation and equipment safety standards.
  • Assist the lab team with the management of critical care and other complex patients, demonstrating initiative and motivation by seeking opportunities for learning and development.
  • Contribute to the successful operation of the department, accepting coaching and mentoring from others, and being open to constructive feedback and active listening.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited formal medical education program, such as CVT, EMT, Paramedic, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, Sonography, or Associate's Degree or greater in a Health Sciences-related field.
  • Clinical patient care experience, with 2 years or more strongly preferred.
  • American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support certification required, with preparation for certification in ACLS, at manager's discretion.
Working Conditions

The job requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping/walking, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), and repetitive motion (computer keyboard). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills are required, along with attention to detail and the ability to write legibly. The ability to lift/push/pull 50-100lbs and wear lead aprons for extended periods is also necessary. May be exposed to chemicals, cold, dust, noise, radiation, blood/body fluids/infectious disease.
