Job Overview

As the Site Operations Supervisor, you will collaborate closely with the Site Director, overseeing the dynamic operations of a 24/7 production facility. Your role will encompass driving initiatives related to safety, quality assurance, production efficiency, maintenance, and inventory management, while ensuring compliance with industry standards such as OSHA, EPA, FDA, and GMP. You will also be responsible for the recruitment and training of both new and existing staff members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Safety, Health, and regulatory programs in conjunction with the site EH&S Coordinator and Corporate EH&S leadership.
  • Work alongside the Site Director to manage plant operations, including Production, Maintenance, Logistics, Warehouse, and Planning. Act as Site Leader during the Site Director's absence.
  • Oversee the management of operations within your designated area at the facility, ensuring alignment with corporate policies and continuous improvement of organizational capabilities.
  • Ensure production schedules are effectively aligned to meet order fulfillment within specified timelines while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Prioritize resource allocation for maintenance, production, and project execution, participating in design reviews as necessary.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure food and feed safety in collaboration with the site Quality Control Supervisor and Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Work with the site QA Manager to guarantee that all food products are produced in compliance with industry and regulatory quality and safety standards.
  • Supervise multiple direct reports and facilitate daily production meetings as required.
  • Collaborate with R&D and Commercial teams during production scale-up, validation, and customer trials.
  • Manage all financial aspects, including expenses and capital for your area of responsibility, ensuring adherence to budget commitments.
  • Oversee the implementation of process, equipment, and facility capital projects within your area.
  • Conduct or oversee incident investigations related to Quality, Safety, and Productivity within your scope of responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, with a total of 10 years of experience, including 5+ years in production management within food, pharmaceutical, or high-purity chemical manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with production planning methodologies.
  • Experience in Process Safety Management is essential.
  • Proven track record in process optimization, managing small projects, and enhancing process capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications and various software tools.
  • Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to deliver effective on-the-job training.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Previous experience with bargaining units or unions is preferred.
