Job Overview

The Heavy Equipment Operator plays a critical role in supporting the operations of various shops within the organization. This position requires the ability to provide special assistance and utilize various types of mechanical equipment to ensure seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Parking Lot Maintenance: Utilize power equipment to maintain parking lots and ensure a safe and clean environment for employees and visitors.
  2. Winter Operations: Assist with snow removal and sanding of roads to ensure safe access to facilities.
  3. Equipment Operation: Operate trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment to transport materials and equipment as needed.
  4. Grounds Maintenance: Cut limbs and trees using chain saws and dig trenches, move trees, and perform other operations requiring relocation of large masses using backhoes and front loaders.
  5. Heavy Lifting and Moving: Perform heavy lifting, moving, and relocating of various types of equipment and furniture as required.
  6. Cleaning and Maintenance: Steam clean walkways, equipment, tents, and canvas to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  7. Road Maintenance: Assist with road patching using compactors and front loaders to ensure safe and smooth road surfaces.
  8. Equipment Repair: Provide assistance with equipment repairs to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.
Requirements
  1. Physical Demands: Ability to handle strenuous work assignments, including lifting and carrying heavy objects (up to 100 pounds) throughout the shift.
  2. Weather Conditions: Ability to work under various conditions, including weather extremes from inclement to hot temperatures.
  3. Supervision: Ability to work with little or no supervision and communicate progress and problems to management.
  4. Equipment Operation: Ability to operate various power tools and equipment, as well as operate a variety of heavy equipment without assistance.
  5. License Requirements: Must have a Class A license.
  6. Safety Protocols: Must operate equipment within approved safety program practices.
Working Conditions

Requires the ability to bend, stretch, crouch, kneel, lift, carry, reach, sit, and stand throughout the shift.
