Job Responsibilities:

The Police Officer is tasked with delivering law enforcement and public safety services to the community. Responsibilities include enforcing criminal laws and ordinances, making arrests as necessary, traffic enforcement, crime prevention, patrolling, investigating accidents, resolving domestic disputes, supporting prosecutions, and providing non-criminal public safety services. The individual in this role is expected to perform duties efficiently while adhering to departmental rules, regulations, and policies.

Entry-level officers will typically serve as uniformed patrol officers. Officers are expected to execute their duties with a high degree of independence and sound judgment, maintaining accountability to their superiors and complying with legitimate orders. Officers may also be assigned to various specialized roles within the agency, including:

  • Detective
  • School Resource Officer
  • D.A.R.E. Officer
  • Crime Prevention Officer
  • Field Training Officer
  • Special Investigations Officer
  • Special Operations Officer
  • Traffic Unit Officer
  • Other assigned duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. While completion of college, military service, or relevant work experience is preferred, it is not mandatory. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and a U.S. citizen. No felony convictions are allowed, and felony arrests or misdemeanor convictions will be reviewed if they involve drug/alcohol violations, assault/battery, or crimes involving moral turpitude. A valid driver's license is required.
