Position Title: Quality Engineer – 1st Shift

Job Summary:
This salaried position is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing methodologies, processes, and systems aimed at eliminating and preventing defects in products. The role emphasizes continuous improvement, standardization, and waste reduction.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the development of new programs to meet internal and external customer requirements, including:
   - Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
   - Control Plans
   - Process Flow Diagrams
   - Inspection Standards
   - Capability Analysis
   - Gages and Fixtures
   - Mistake Proofing
2. Create and update quality documentation for corrective and preventive actions, process modifications, and approvals.
3. Collaborate with the Program Manager during new program launches.
4. Act as the primary liaison for customer communications regarding quality and delivery issues.
5. Review and approve Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions, ensuring compliance with customer-specific requirements and IATF16949 standards.
6. Participate in customer performance activities and quality-related meetings.
7. Coordinate cross-functional teams to conduct root cause analysis for internal failures and those impacting customers.
8. Document and facilitate value-added corrective and preventive actions using formal methodologies such as 8-D, Shainin Red X, and 5-Why.
9. Champion containment activities for all quality concerns and manage product returns.

Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
Certifications:
Training in blueprint reading, Statistical Process Control (SPC), problem-solving techniques, and ISO or IATF16949 audit training is advantageous.
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years in the quality engineering field, ideally within the automotive sector. Proficient knowledge of PPAP, APQP, FMEA, Control Plan development, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and SPC is essential.

Authorization to work in the United States is a prerequisite for employment. Gibbs Die Casting does not sponsor work visas.
