The Senior Underwriter is responsible for overseeing the underwriting and management of both new and renewal accounts for designated Nonprofit agents and producers, ensuring adherence to AmTrust Financial's underwriting policies, authority limits, and pricing standards.
- Develop and maintain a profitable portfolio through effective risk evaluation, pricing strategies, and client servicing.
- Ensure compliance with state regulations and uphold corporate underwriting and pricing standards.
- Operate within established authority limits and refer cases to Nonprofit and Home Office Underwriting as necessary.
- Work collaboratively with the Nonprofit team, keeping colleagues and management updated on all relevant issues and activities.
- In partnership with Nonprofit Management, create and execute a strategic business plan for assigned agents and regions, sharing accountability for achieving objectives.
- Guide agents on underwriting preferences and procedures in alignment with corporate training protocols.
- Engage with Nonprofit and Regional teams to cultivate and sustain external client relationships, which may involve travel to meet with agents, producers, and nonprofit organizations.
- Actively participate in industry events, including agency or association conventions, as required.
- Deliver professional, prompt, and courteous communication and service to external clients and internal departments to effectively resolve issues related to policyholders and agents.
- Provide essential information and support to staff responsible for processing coverage requests in line with service standards.
- Collaborate with support teams on reporting and database updates as necessary.
- Assist in gathering and sharing competitive insights.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial lines property and casualty insurance.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Proven expertise in understanding the unique exposures faced by nonprofit organizations.
- Technical proficiency in underwriting liability, professional, property, automobile, and umbrella risks associated with nonprofit entities.
- Ability to analyze and interpret information to make informed risk assessments and pricing decisions.
- Capability to contribute to Nonprofit business strategy development.
- Respect for confidentiality and sensitive information.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Enjoyment of collaborating with a team of dedicated nonprofit insurance professionals.
- Willingness to travel within the designated territory and to the Home Office as needed.
- CPCU or CIC designation is preferred.
