Court Officer

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Court Officer to join our team at the City of Salem, VA. As a Court Officer, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting with case file management, and preparing reports for the courts.
Key Responsibilities- Receive and screen visitors in a professional and courteous manner
- Assist with the preparation, maintenance, and organization of program case files
- Prepare letters and reports as required
- Enter and extract data from the program's case management information system and the Day Reporting Center/Department of Corrections system
- Prepare and compose written reports to the courts regarding the progress of probationers
- Maintain orderly files and manage case records
- Accept and screen telephone calls for program staff and accurately record messages when required
- Assist the Administrative Assistant with the preparation of financial or statistical reports
- Work effectively and courteously with co-workers
- Collect and post offender fees
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, but will consider students currently pursuing a degree
- Effective use of interpersonal skills
- Knowledge in the use of office equipment, such as typewriters, calculators, copy machines, FAX machines, and postage meters
- Knowledge in the use of computer programs (Windows; Microsoft Word, Excel)
- Excellent computer skills
- Basic familiarity with the use of standardized forms
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in office settings
- Good organizational skills
