Position Overview

The Banquet Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating banquet functions and the activities of the service team to ensure that the highest standards of member and guest satisfaction are consistently met. This position collaborates closely with the Events and Catering Director, focusing primarily on catering and special events while also supporting a la carte dining services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster strong relationships with club members and guests.
  • Engage with members and event hosts to enhance their experience and communicate relevant details to the service team and management.
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders, including catering sales, outside vendors, and kitchen staff, to ensure seamless banquet operations.
  • Prepare and assess event layouts, guest seating arrangements, and setup requirements.
  • Supervise front-of-house staff during event setup and execution.
  • Conduct daily briefings with banquet staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet facilities.
  • Ensure that banquet rooms are arranged according to event specifications.
  • Lead the food and beverage service team during events.
  • Stay informed about club menus and upcoming events.
  • Assist in the planning and development of catering menus and beverage selections.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior staff members.
  • Hold self and team accountable for the successful completion of daily tasks.
  • Adhere to club policies and standards to promote safe and efficient operations.
  • Participate in weekly meetings to discuss event logistics with the Food and Beverage Team.
  • Maintain vendor relationships for services such as audio-visual support and floral arrangements.
  • Ensure compliance with service procedures for alcoholic beverages.
  • Confirm that all closing tasks and side work are completed.
  • Create a positive and productive work environment.
  • Assist with inventory management as needed.
  • Oversee the decoration setup for holiday and member events.
  • Open and close the club as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in banquet management or a related field is preferred.
  • A degree in hospitality or a similar discipline is a plus.
  • Familiarity with management software is advantageous but not mandatory.

Work Environment

  • Most duties will be performed in banquet and dining areas, with administrative tasks completed in an office setting.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Capability to perform various physical tasks, including pushing, pulling, kneeling, and reaching.
