Position Overview

As a Senior Underwriter specializing in Participant Accident programs at Chubb, you will play a pivotal role in managing a portfolio of Special Risk business. Your expertise will be essential in driving growth while ensuring the retention of existing accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of a diverse book of Participant Accident/Special Risk business, focusing on achieving new business growth and maintaining renewals.
  • Support the renewal retention strategy by issuing timely notices and collaborating closely with brokers throughout the renewal process.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop competitive pricing, coverage, and terms for both new and renewal business.
  • Maintain strict adherence to underwriting guidelines and authority, ensuring compliance with all directives.
  • Oversee the accuracy and completeness of data and documentation within repository systems.
  • Act as a subject matter expert within the Home Office, managing large referrals and serving as a resource for regional offices while also training new underwriters.
  • Assist in the onboarding of new programs, including rate and plan development, policy issuance management, and premium reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with regional offices, actuarial teams, product development, and legal departments as necessary.
  • Support the Segment Lead in executing strategies for growth, operational efficiency, policy filings, and marketing initiatives.
  • Foster strong relationships with producers and conduct monthly audits of underwriting practices.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in Accident & Health underwriting, particularly in Participant Accident/Special Risk sectors.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with a background in evaluating complex underwriting risks and medical experience rating methodologies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-driven with a strong sense of accountability for work outcomes.
  • Proficient organizational and negotiation skills.
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for business purposes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
