Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Assist in transporting patients to the operating room and verify patient records for accurate pre-op preparation and procedures.
- Perform and direct surgical prep, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment and surfaces.
- Document patient information, medications, and physician orders in a timely and accurate manner.
- Supervise and assist with the proper positioning of patients, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts, and document the results.
- Identify, label, and care for surgical specimens properly.
- Secure emergency equipment and supplies as needed.
- Maintain a safe and efficient operating room environment.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current license to practice nursing in the State of Maryland.
- Minimum of one year experience in the operating room, with expertise in endoscopic and orthopedic procedures.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
