Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Patient Care to join our team at Baylor St. Lukes Medical Center. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing and developing professional leadership in the nursing organization, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective nursing care is delivered, and working to integrate the goals of the service and the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to nursing staff to ensure delivery of high-quality patient care that meets local, state, and national regulatory bodies and professional organizations' standards.
  • Develop and implement goals and objectives for the nursing service line, aligning with the hospital's strategic plan.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and develop action plans for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and manage the annual capital budget, prioritizing equipment needs based on patient unit requirements, physician recruitment activities, and revenue potential.
  • Recruit and retain high-caliber nurses, fostering a positive work environment that supports professional growth and development.
  • Collaborate with other members of the management team, physicians, and departments to facilitate patient care delivery.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing, MBA, or MHA.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • Four years of nursing experience in a tertiary acute care hospital and a minimum of five years of management experience at the nurse manager level or above.
  • Excellent clinical and operational skills, with leadership experience within an academic medical facility.

  • The ability to hold people accountable to performance standards, ensuring compliance and promoting a positive work environment.
  • The ability to engage key partners, physicians, employees, and executive leadership, sustaining their commitment to changes in approaches, processes, and strategies.
