Job Summary

Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center is a world-renowned leader in research and clinical excellence. As a Director of Patient Care, you will be responsible for providing and developing professional leadership in the nursing organization, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective nursing care is delivered. You will work to integrate the goals of the service and the hospital, ensuring a safe environment for patients, employees, physicians, visitors, and guests.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide high-quality patient care to a specified patient population, meeting local, state, and national regulatory bodies and professional organizations' standards.
2. Develop leadership within the hospital to support excellence in research-based nursing practice.
3. Develop, integrate, and implement goals of the hospital and nursing into service lines.
4. Lead quality programs and work to develop action plans for continuous improvement.
5. Develop, review, and maintain fiscal budgets within established targets, monitoring overtime, labor costs, medical supply expenses, and working with purchasing partners to obtain strong supply contract pricing.
6. Ensure staffing patterns are flexed and according to unit activity and patient acuity.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing, MBA, or MHA
* Registered Nurse (RN)
* Internal candidates are required to complete Master's program within 3 years

Required Licensure:
* Registered Nurse (RN)

Experience Required:
* Four (4) years of nursing experience in a tertiary acute care hospital and a minimum of five (5) years of management experience at the nurse manager level or above
* Excellent clinical and operational skills
* Leadership experience within an academic medical facility

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training:
* Ability to hold people accountable to standards of performance or ensure compliance using the power of one's position or force of personality appropriately and effectively, with the long-term good of the organization in mind
* Ability to engage key partners, physicians, employees, and executive leadership, and sustain their commitment to changes in approaches, processes, and strategies
* Ability to work cooperatively with others as part of a team or group, principally physicians, demonstrating positive attitudes about the team, its members, and its ability to get its mission accomplished
* Ability to speak and write in a clear, logical, and grammatical manner in formal and informal situations; to prepare cogent business presentations representing the hospital and the health system in a positive manner
* Ability to take initiative and anticipate obstacles, developments, and problems by looking ahead several months to over a year and to develop a long-term plan strategic plan
