Job Description

The Facility MaineHealth Medical Group is seeking a skilled Medical Compliance Auditor/Educator Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time hybrid position, offering the flexibility to work both remotely and on-site.

In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing professional encounter notes for accuracy, ensuring compliance with coding standards, and educating providers on coding best practices. Your expertise in CPT and ICD-10 coding will be essential in maintaining high-quality patient care and adhering to regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct audits of medical charts to ensure accuracy and compliance with coding policies
  • Develop and deliver educational programs for providers on coding standards and best practices
  • Respond promptly to coding inquiries from providers or others, providing precise and accurate results
  • Maintain knowledge of regulations and coding changes, staying up-to-date on industry developments
  • Collaborate with the Operations Compliance Manager and Education Compliance Manager to ensure seamless integration of auditing and education efforts
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, health information management, or a related field (high school diploma or equivalent preferred)
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based (CCS-P) certification required; CMPA certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in healthcare auditing or coding, with a working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
  • Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly in person, in writing, and over the phone
  • Proficient computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as Teams/Zoom Meetings
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently with minimal direct supervision
Estimated Salary Range:

$65,000 - $80,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
