About the Role

Nationwide Private Client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Trial Attorney to join our team. As a Senior Trial Attorney, you will be responsible for representing clients in complex insurance litigation cases, including property and casualty insurance defense and subrogation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in complex insurance litigation cases, including property and casualty insurance defense and subrogation.
  • Develop and implement effective litigation strategies to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and gather evidence to support claims.
  • Prepare and present cases in court, including trial and appellate proceedings.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, claims professionals, and experts to develop and implement litigation strategies.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in the law and industry trends to ensure expertise in property and casualty insurance defense and subrogation.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, claims professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior attorneys and staff on litigation strategies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license in the state where the position is located.
  • More than eight years of relevant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation.
  • Significant litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly collaborative and capable of working with staff and other attorneys on-site and remotely.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to process information efficiently and effectively.
  • Excellent analytical and legal skills.
  • Resourceful and creative problem solver.
  • Computer savvy with a solid understanding of basic software and use of same.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the law and changes to technology in the law and court systems.
  • Strong time management and organization skills.
  • Decision making ability to set work priorities and make recommendations.
  • Ability to initiate, prioritize and coordinate complex projects and cases.
  • Leadership skills used in direct and/or indirect influencing such as motivating, problem solving, business strengthening and development with colleagues, clients and claims partners.
