Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach communications courses at Durham Technical Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for course preparation, delivery, and grading, as well as maintaining accurate records and staying current with developments in the field of instruction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach communications courses, as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, syllabi, and instructional materials
  • Enforce academic policies and procedures, and comply with institutional rules and regulations
  • Maintain accurate and complete course and student records, reports, and forms
  • Stay current with developments in the field of communications and instructional technology
  • Assume other necessary responsibilities and perform additional tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, or president
Requirements
  • Masters degree in communications or public speaking, or a related field, with at least 18 graduate semester hours in communications or public speaking
  • Experience teaching communications courses at a university or community college
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively teach and communicate with students
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to academic excellence and student success

This is a part-time, adjunct faculty position. The successful candidate will be required to complete all mandatory trainings and maintain a thorough understanding of and commitment to the mission and philosophy of the North Carolina Community College System.
