The Role
The Special Education Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Director and resource team to oversee and assess the educational program.

This position will serve as a mentor and resource for classroom staff, working in partnership with all departments to implement educational initiatives effectively.

In conjunction with the school Director, this role will be instrumental in the recruitment, interviewing, selection, and onboarding of new personnel.

Key Responsibilities
Include the following:

Additional Duties:
- Collaborate with classroom staff to coordinate, manage, assess needs, and determine student assignments related to special education programs
- Assist the Principal in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new campus staff
- Develop and implement transition planning and services/Indicator 13
- Maintain IEP database and student file scanning database
- Prepare for and attend students' IEP meetings, ensuring documentation is completed accurately prior to meetings and providing ongoing monitoring for ISBE compliance of students' IEPs
- Plan and implement educational sessions for staff and parents regarding special education programs
- Foster strong relationships with school districts, parents, and the community
- Provide and oversee crisis intervention within the school
- Organize, plan, and deliver training for professional development and staff meetings
- Actively participate in Education Committee meetings and communicate information to the resource team
Qualifications
- Current Illinois Special Education Certificate (LBS1)
- Preferred experience working with similar populations in an educational setting
- Experience in a coaching capacity with staff
- Strong professional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in recording and analyzing data using Excel and Google Drive
