ROLE OVERVIEW

Tasked with generating sales leads with prospective clients within a designated market; aligns personal sales efforts with team members and other internal resources. Collaborates with colleagues to cross-sell various products and services; formulates and executes a personal sales strategy with direct accountability for yearly production targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Creates a sales development strategy to initiate business with new clients; builds and nurtures a portfolio of clients, progressively expanding it according to plan each year.
  • Seizes opportunities to cross-sell multiple service lines to current clients; partners with department colleagues and service personnel managing the company's diverse practices to optimize service sales.
  • Maintains a robust level of sales activity through self-initiated efforts to meet production targets; promotes products and services to the right contacts.
  • Develops and implements a proactive approach to sourcing leads, identifying and targeting decision-makers, and making cold calls to secure appointments and service presentations.
  • Conducts a thorough assessment of potential clients' needs by reviewing their current insurance/risk management programs; provides recommendations for suitable and competitive coverage options.
  • Tailors insurance solutions to meet client requirements across various risks; articulates the features, benefits, and drawbacks of different policies to encourage service sales.
  • Effectively communicates products and services by crafting compelling presentations and employing closing techniques to secure business.
  • Regularly meets with existing clients to maintain strong relationships and ensure that required services are delivered as expected; acts as a trusted advisor, assisting clients in analyzing risks and applying innovative solutions to complex risk challenges.
  • Keeps accurate and timely electronic records of all prospecting activities using Microsoft CRM software, including data entry of established contacts, sales calls, presentations made, closed sales, and follow-up activities.
  • Builds a personal network of contacts for long-term prospect sourcing through professional referrals and special-interest groups; engages in community events, non-profit boards, and other networking opportunities.
  • Participates in industry events, seminars, and workshops to stay informed about competitive market changes and new products and services; undergoes technical training to enhance account development skills.
  • Remains updated on legislative changes, industry trends, and new product offerings; assists in implementing company promotional activities and seminars.
  • Attends and contributes to all mandatory Business Development Team meetings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Risk Management from an accredited institution and one to three years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specific Experience Required
  • Proven success in selling Business-to-Business products or services is essential.
