Role Overview

In collaboration with your team, the Senior Field Service Technician II will oversee the disassembly and reassembly of specific Rivian powertrain and electric components returned from service operations. This role entails meticulously documenting the condition of returned components during the disassembly of electric vehicle propulsion systems (HV battery packs, Drive Units, and Power Electronics). Throughout the remanufacturing and reassembly process, the Senior Field Service Technician II will be responsible for capturing critical data to monitor reliability and quality. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the disassembly, condition documentation, and assembly of returned parts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Assist Senior Technicians with component testing, repairs, and final inspections.
  • Conduct inspections, identify issues, and accurately report findings.
  • Achieve production targets consistently.
  • Support campaign initiatives and containment efforts.
  • Perform tasks in accordance with established methods.
  • Maintain a safe and organized workspace (5S principles).
  • Contribute to production activities as required.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, working alongside field service, production, and product development teams to enhance organizational learning.
  • Document repairs completed and in progress accurately.
  • Additional support, including travel, may be necessary based on business needs.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year of experience as an Automotive Repair Technician, Diagnostic Technician, or in mechanical or electrical production.
  • Ability to recognize electrical and mechanical components in EV propulsion systems.
  • Basic knowledge of low voltage electrical circuit testing.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, including powered and non-powered torque wrenches.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with organizational abilities.
  • Capable of adapting to a production-oriented mindset to meet output requirements.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 30% of the time.
  • Flexibility to support alternate shifts and work schedules as needed.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • No driving-related suspensions or revocations of Driver License within the last 3-5 years.
  • Fluency in reading and speaking English.
  • No drug or alcohol-related driving incidents in the past three years.
  • No more than one serious moving violation in the last three years.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license in the state of residence.
  • Subject to ongoing Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring.
  • Ability to stand for 8-10 hours daily.
  • Frequent use of hands for material handling during inspections and daily tasks.
  • Occasional climbing, walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching may be required.
  • Effective communication using telephone and/or email.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, SOPs, and repair instructions.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform duties in environments with dust, high noise levels, and varying temperatures.
Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $30.03 to $37.54 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian offers comprehensive medical/Rx, dental, and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouses or domestic partners, and children up to age 26. Coverage begins on the first day of employment, with Rivian covering most premiums.
