About the Role

The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a highly skilled Pathologist Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our surgical pathology department, you will assist pathologists in the receipt, preparation, and examination of surgical tissue specimens and autopsies. Your expertise will ensure that all specimens are accurately accessioned and processed in a timely and safe manner.

Responsibilities

- Assist in the preparation and performance of surgical specimen dissection and gross description
- Obtain clinical history, lab data, x-rays, and scans as appropriate
- Describe gross features of surgical specimens and prepare tissues for processing for light microscopy
- Obtain samples for special studies such as flow cytometry, image analysis, research, cytogenetics, cultures, electron microscopy, and immunofluorescence
- Photograph gross specimens

Requirements

- Bachelors Degree in Science with at least 5 years of experience as a Pathologist Assistant or Bachelors or Masters degree in Pathology Assistant program with no experience
- 1 year surgical grossing and autopsy experience
- PA-ASCP Board Certification
- NY State Path-A License
