Job Summary:
The Director of Development will provide strategic leadership to the fundraising team, overseeing all donor initiatives and activities, as well as capital campaign initiatives. This pro-active and energetic leader will support a team of 4 full-time professionals managing organizational advancement efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish a high level of trust and confidence with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and development staff.
- Provide ambitious, long-term strategic leadership and supervision overseeing organizational advancement efforts in fundraising.
- Reach a new and aspiring level of philanthropic success that will advance the reputation and awareness of the organization by actively managing a portfolio of major donors, participating in cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and philanthropy organization wide.
- Work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors and Staff Leadership to raise organizational visibility, increase revenue and create awareness and excitement about our mission and vision.
- Serves as a member of the leadership team, as a strategic thought partner and a skilled collaborator, offering valuable insights and input on broad strategic discussions and builds bridges with departments, partners and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree – (Master's Degree a plus, CFRE preferred)
- 5+ years of senior level experience, demonstrating progressively increasing responsibility, with demonstrated success in all functional areas (i.e. external affairs, development)
- Must have a successful track record of raising funds, managing a team, and providing leadership to board, staff and volunteers.
- Proven fundraising skills, especially in the area of individual donor relationships.
- A mature and experienced manager who can work effectively with team members at different stages of career development and with a strong experience as part of a senior management team.
- The ability to think big picture, assess conditions and outcomes, and make rational recommendations regarding fundraising and other key issues.
- Impeccable integrity, judgment, and discretion along with a professional demeanor and interpersonal style that elicits trust from leadership, funders, staff and partners.
- Exceptional writing, verbal communication and presentation skill sets.
- Proficient computer skills: MS Office applications; Proficiency in Blackbaud Raiser's Edge or similar CRM software preferred. Experience in CRM or similar contacts database software preferred.
- Demonstrated success in communications and marketing oversight and planning, including social media/digital campaigns.
- Demonstrated success in financial management to allocate resources, prepare budgets, analyze financial data and forecast unearned income.
