Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at Intensacare Homehealth Services. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to live a quality life, promoting their health, safety, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend to the needs of each resident, including assisting with grooming, bathing, hygiene, toileting, feeding, and communicating individual needs.
- Support residents in achieving their goals by taking them to medical appointments, visiting family and friends, and engaging in leisure activities.
- Follow physicians' orders, including medication administration, and ensure court orders and reporting procedures are followed.
- Schedule annual medical and dental appointments, implement emergency procedures, and participate in developing Individual Program Plans (IPPs) and Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
- Maintain records of medical visits, medication administration, and special incidents, and report any unusual occurrences or health and safety issues to the Administrator.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; DSP I certificate must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
- Preferred experience: one-year experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or mental illnesses with challenging behaviors.
- Active First Aid and CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification within 30 days of employment.
Physical Requirements: The Direct Support Professional position involves frequent sitting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions, with occasional lifting of 50 lbs and bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, standing, crawling, reaching, walking, driving, traveling, kneeling, and crouching.
