Direct Support Professional II

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional II to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our care team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities in achieving their goals and living fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide routine and emergency care, treatment, and training to individuals with intellectual disabilities in various settings.
• Implement habilitation and rehabilitation programs, including behavior management and crisis intervention.
• Teach life skills such as feeding, dressing, and personal hygiene to individuals.
• Participate in the development of individualized treatment plans and observe individuals for signs and symptoms of disease or injury.
• Report significant changes in an individual's physical condition or behavior and record information as appropriate.
• Assist with transporting individuals to scheduled activities and in emergency situations, as needed.
• Administer first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as necessary.
• Evacuate individuals in the event of a fire, natural disaster, or emergency situation.
• Prevent or manage aggressive behavior among individuals and provide training and mentorship to new staff members.
Requirements:
• Ability to make decisions and use good judgment in critical incidents.
• Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
• Knowledge of individual care techniques and treatment programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively and train/mentor/coach others.
• Ability to work effectively with others and as a member of a team.
