About the Position

The City of San Jose, CA is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy Director to join our Housing Department. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the department's vision and strategy to address homelessness and affordable housing needs in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and oversight to a team of professionals working on homelessness prevention and affordable housing initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce unsheltered homelessness and increase access to affordable housing options.
  • Collaborate with city departments, community organizations, and stakeholders to leverage resources and expertise.
  • Manage budgets and resources to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, developers, and government agencies.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a related field, such as public administration, urban planning, or business administration.
  • At least 6 years of experience in senior-level administrative and/or analytic work in a public or private agency.
  • Proven track record of success in leading teams and managing budgets.
  • Strong knowledge of affordable housing and homelessness prevention policies and programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
