Warehouse Lead Job Description

OTP Industrial Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Warehouse Lead to join our team in Knoxville, TN. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading and training the warehouse team to enhance performance, managing day-to-day operations, and overseeing tasks such as inventory control, order fulfillment, and accurate shipping.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and train the warehouse team to improve individual and group performance
  • Manage day-to-day operations, including inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping
  • Oversee tasks such as inventory management, order processing, and shipping and receiving
  • Interact with customers, address warehouse-related issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and facility maintenance
  • Work with customer service, operations, and procurement teams to facilitate customer credits and vendor returns
  • Rectify issues related to shortages or damages
  • Maintain inventory locations, inventory accuracy, and organization
  • Perform and/or work with the warehouse team in building maintenance projects, general upkeep, and trash disposal
  • Assist or lead continuous improvement, 5S, and LEAN activities
  • Interact with walk-in customers, pick-up or will-call customers
  • Assist with responsive communication of any warehouse-related questions or issues to salesmen or customer service management and staff
  • Assist in meeting monthly goals on the operations scorecard
  • Assist in maintaining, developing, and daily implementation of procedures and processes to ensure consistent and expected results
  • Responsible for building and equipment maintenance projects within the scope of general upkeep, trash disposal, etc.
  • Assume responsibilities of other warehouse associates in the event of PTO usage or unexpected absence
Requirements:
  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or high school diploma with two years of related experience, or relevant combination of education and experience
  • Ability to lead a team, preferred prior leadership experience
  • Ability to perform or quickly gain knowledge of all base warehouse functions
  • Proven experience in implementing operational processes
  • Proven project management, administrative management, and organizational skills
  • Proven experience utilizing an ERP
  • Preferred experience within an industrial distribution and/or manufacturing environment
  • Excellent customer relations and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, including accurate data entry skills
  • Capable of working independently, as well as a team member
  • Interact with co-workers with a positive attitude to maintain a friendly and productive work environment
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to understand written and oral English and be proficient with computer, email, spreadsheets, and look-up documents online
  • Ability to obtain a commercial driver's license
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job
  • Ability to work in environments that may include moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, painting chemicals and solvents, electrical equipment
Physical Requirements:
  • Sit/stand for prolonged periods at a bench or table to package materials
  • Handling and moving objects - using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things
  • Manual dexterity - the ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects
  • Retrieving and/or filing documentation from other departments
  • Handling - moving, lifting (up to 70 lbs) parts to and from a bench or cart
