Position Overview: Nurse Practitioner - Hospitalist

  • The Nurse Practitioner in this role will engage in comprehensive care for hospitalized patients, including responsibilities such as admissions, discharges, daily evaluations, and patient education.
  • This position operates under the supervision and licensure of APN physicians, adhering to the legal scope of practice.
  • Ensuring high-quality, safe patient care is paramount, along with compliance with professional standards and regulations.
  • The Nurse Practitioner will provide care across all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric patients.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Master's program for Nurse Practitioners.
  • Possession of a current, unrestricted RN License.
  • Valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License.
  • Current certifications in BLS and ACLS; PALS certification is recommended.
Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting, such as Medical/Surgical, Emergency Room, or ICU.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and their families.
  • Proficient in making clinical decisions based on sound judgment.
  • Skilled in prioritizing and organizing workload to meet patient and unit needs.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily rounds on inpatients, assessing and managing their needs, and providing care coordination in the Post-Surgical Unit.
  • Collaborate closely with supervising physicians.
  • Perform comprehensive examinations, interpret diagnostic data, and develop treatment plans.
  • Document patient progress in medical records and ensure timely completion of discharge education.
  • Engage with patients and families regarding discharge plans and necessary referrals.
  • Maintain effective communication with all healthcare professionals involved in patient care.
  • Manage patients in the Emergency Room, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Lead the care team during Rapid Response and Code Blue situations.
