Job Title: OLEO Policy AnalystJob Summary:

The Office of Law Enforcement Oversight (OLEO) is seeking a highly skilled Policy Analyst to join our team. As a Policy Analyst, you will play a critical role in researching, analyzing, and making recommendations for improvement of policies relating to public safety, police practices, and the criminal legal system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses of Sheriff's Office policies and practices, including recommending changes to specific policies.
  • Research and evaluate public safety policies and data nationwide and translate research into concise and actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate with OLEO's programs and community stakeholders to identify issues and incorporate community standards into policy.
  • Monitor relevant legislation to make accurate recommendations for Sheriff's Office policy changes.
  • Identify strategic opportunities for OLEO to provide input into policy, including engaging directly with external stakeholders.
  • Prepare, publish, and present reports to various stakeholders, including the County Council.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in policy or a related field plus one year of directly relevant experience; or
  • Bachelor's degree in policy or a related field plus three years of directly relevant experience; or
  • Associate's degree in policy or a related field plus four years of directly relevant experience; or
  • Five years of directly relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • More than three years of work experience analyzing and drafting public policy, working with legislation and legislative bodies, and advancing community interests.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Initiative, good judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively and objectively in accordance with the mission and vision of OLEO.
