Housing Policy Analyst, Project/Program Manager II

King County's Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) is seeking a highly skilled and passionate individual to join our Planning, Policy, and Special Projects team as a Housing Policy Analyst, Project/Program Manager II.

This role will play a critical part in shaping the future of housing in King County, working on major plans, projects, and programs that promote equitable opportunities for people to be healthy, happy, and connected to community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement Housing Strategies: Create and execute comprehensive housing policies and plans that promote equity and social justice.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with community members, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders to advance housing affordability solutions.
  • Support Policy Development: Assist in the creation of reports, presentations, and briefing memos that inform policy decisions.
  • Lead Special Projects: Oversee and support special project assignments, including community engagement and outreach.
  • Draft Policy Documents: Develop housing-related ordinances, regulations, and other policy documents.
  • Apply Project Management Skills: Utilize project management skills to successfully deliver products and services.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, urban planning, public administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least two (2) years of experience working or supporting research in housing policy, local or regional housing planning, land use planning, or similar experience.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of the history and legacy of racially exclusive and discriminatory land use and housing practices in the United States.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for different audiences and communication needs.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and web-based research methods.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Community Experience: Experience working with communities disproportionately impacted by housing disparities.
  • King County Knowledge: Familiarity with King County-specific affordable housing issues.
  • Housing Plan Development: Experience developing and/or implementing housing or land use plans, policies, and/or actions.
  • Technical Assistance: Experience in providing technical assistance to community members, community organizations, jurisdictions, or other external stakeholders.
