Job Overview:
Parsons Oman is in search of a talented Geologist / Environmental Scientist to contribute to our mission. Our team leverages cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to conduct environmental site assessments, investigations, and remediation efforts, striving for a cleaner and safer planet for our clients and future generations.
In this role, you will engage in a variety of geological and environmental responsibilities. A willingness to perform fieldwork and travel to various sites (up to 50% of the time) is essential.
As your career progresses, the position will transition to more office-based tasks with reduced fieldwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a range of field and office activities applying standard geological and environmental science principles.
- Perform environmental sampling of soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment, and more.
- Classify and sample soil during drilling, test pitting, and excavation operations.
- Assist in supervising drillers and subcontractors.
- Execute field projects prioritizing health and safety.
- Complete essential field documentation, including activity hazard analysis forms, project reports, field notes, sampling records, and chain-of-custody forms.
- Assist in geological and environmental analyses, including hydrogeology and geochemistry.
- Analyze and interpret environmental sample results in relation to geological contexts.
- Create figures of environmental data, potentiometric surface maps, geological maps, and cross-sections.
- Develop materials and assist in preparing reports on completed fieldwork.
- Provide technical guidance to junior geologists or environmental scientists as needed.
- Collaborate with project managers, utilizing interpersonal and organizational skills to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
- Perform additional responsibilities as appropriate for this position.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in Geology or a related field, along with typically 3+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and guidelines.
- Ability to work in a hybrid work environment.
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to field locations up to 50% of the time.
- Physical capability to perform tasks requiring extended periods of standing, walking on uneven surfaces, lifting, and similar activities.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions (e.g., hot, cold, rain, snow).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Maturity in interactions and the ability to work independently in the field or as part of a team.

Compensation:
