Job Overview
The Law Enforcement Officer is tasked with maintaining public safety, enforcing state regulations, and safeguarding the constitutional rights of individuals. Responsibilities may vary based on departmental needs and can include various specialized roles such as: Drug Enforcement, School Safety Officer, Emergency Response Unit, Court Bailiff, Training Officer, and more.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct patrols across roadways, lakes, and trails using various modes of transportation including vehicles, foot, and watercraft. Monitor for traffic violations, criminal activities, and safety hazards.
2. Investigate incidents and service calls, gathering evidence, interviewing involved parties, and documenting findings.
3. Respond to emergencies including medical situations, crimes, and public safety concerns.
4. Take appropriate action based on the situation, which may involve apprehending suspects, providing first aid, or managing crisis situations.
5. Maintain accurate records of all incidents and actions taken, completing necessary legal documentation.
6. Serve legal documents and assist in court-related processes.
7. Manage the intake process for individuals in custody, ensuring their safety and well-being.
8. Prepare for shifts by reviewing relevant information and updates.
9. Operate and maintain various law enforcement equipment and vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
10. Engage with the community through educational outreach and public safety initiatives.
11. Provide testimony in legal proceedings as required.
12. Transport individuals in custody to various locations as necessary.
13. Stay proficient in essential skills including firearms handling and crisis intervention techniques.
14. Participate in ongoing training to remain informed of new laws and departmental policies.
15. Maintain required licensure through continuous education and training.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of education in Law Enforcement.
  • One to two years of relevant experience.
  • POST licensed or eligible.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Successful completion of psychological and physical evaluations.
  • Pass a thorough background investigation.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
