Job Overview

Layne Glass Company is seeking a skilled professional to fill the role of Commercial Glazing Estimator. This position is essential for our operations and requires a deep understanding of the glass and glazing sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Blueprint Analysis: Examine construction documents, specifications, and blueprints to generate accurate time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for various projects.
  • Document Comprehension: Interpret all project-related documents, including drawings, qualifications, specifications, and schedules.
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare comprehensive estimates for various scopes, such as curtainwall systems, storefronts, glass partitions, and more.
  • Pricing Acquisition: Gather pricing information for materials, equipment, and subcontractor services as needed.
  • Project Scheduling: Collaborate with general contractors to establish realistic project timelines.
  • Relationship Development: Foster and maintain strong connections within the construction industry and with vendors.
  • Contract Verification: Ensure that the scope and pricing of contracts align with bid proposals.
  • Customer Engagement: Provide product information and support to customers, addressing their inquiries effectively.
  • Collaborative Efforts: Work closely with the Project Management Team and Field Operations to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Proposal Writing: Draft professional proposals that reflect the company's standards.
  • Kick-off Meetings: Lead initial meetings with project managers to set clear expectations.
  • Industry Knowledge: Maintain a foundational understanding of system fabrication, installation, structural calculations, and relevant building codes.
  • Time Management: Prioritize tasks effectively to meet multiple bidding deadlines.
  • Client Presentations: Attend and contribute to client presentation meetings as required.
  • Submittal Production: Generate submittal documentation based on specified requirements.
Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience in storefront and glazing applications, with a background in commercial construction and glass framing systems.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Strong customer service skills and experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with internal teams and external clients.
  • Proficient in managing time and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
