Role Summary

The Senior Cost Estimator plays a crucial role in overseeing and executing construction estimating and bidding processes, ensuring effective management of documentation and technical coordination for project budgeting.

Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the President and CEO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and supervise the Preconstruction Department's Standard Operating Procedures concerning Bidding, Estimating, Market Pricing, and subcontractor engagement to enhance the company's ability to secure profitable projects.
  • Acquire and maintain an in-depth understanding of the estimating and bidding processes, including solicitation techniques and the preparation of comprehensive packages that encompass plans, specifications, relevant codes, and market pricing.
  • Oversee estimating operations and leverage suitable resources to accurately develop budget and bid pricing, aiming to secure and execute projects for both new and existing clients. This includes pricing strategies such as Guaranteed Maximum Price, Stipulated Sum, and Cost Plus Development.
  • Facilitate the examination of drawings, specifications, and all pertinent construction documents to effectively compile and present bids, budgets, and guaranteed maximum prices to prospective and current clients.
  • Conduct thorough reviews to identify design-related issues, document completeness, and potential risks linked to bidding and budgeting projects.
  • Foster relationships with clients, architects, and subcontractors to implement effective budget pricing, conduct constructability reviews, and perform value analysis on behalf of TM Source Building Group.
  • Provide insights through market research for upcoming projects.
  • Coordinate and assess the development of the General Conditions/Requirements estimate, presenting findings to Senior Management.
  • Maintain both local and national historical data while analyzing cost trends.
  • Lead the value engineering process during pre-construction phases and, if necessary, throughout the construction delivery process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field, coupled with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of Preconstruction experience in Commercial General Contracting or Construction Management.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Construction Cost Estimating, Purchasing, Scope Development, and Value Analysis.
  • Proficient in developing and implementing Preconstruction schedules.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skilled in using computer applications, including Microsoft Office and other essential software for Bidding and Estimating.
  • Completion of OSHA 10 Hour Training is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
