Position Summary
The Ellison Institute is in search of a motivated and skilled Laboratory Technician I to become a vital part of our dynamic team. Our organization comprises a diverse group of talented professionals who thrive in a fast-paced setting, providing essential support for research initiatives, patient care, laboratory studies, and administrative functions.

As a Laboratory Technician I, your contributions will be instrumental in facilitating critical research by ensuring that scientists have access to the necessary reagents, tools, and a well-organized workspace. This role offers practical experience and the chance to collaborate across various departments, enhancing the integration of multidisciplinary efforts aimed at pioneering research and patient care projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of buffers and solutions to support experimental protocols.
  • Thorough cleaning and sterilization of laboratory glassware to uphold high-quality standards.
  • Autoclaving of equipment, glassware, and water to ensure optimal cleanliness and safety.
  • Efficient management and upkeep of the tissue culture facility to maintain sterile conditions.
  • Assisting with scheduled preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment such as freezers and incubators.
  • Regularly restocking laboratory supplies and communal areas, as well as assisting with tissue culture needs.
  • Monitoring and regulating CO2 and water levels within incubators to ensure ideal conditions.
  • Maintaining and sanitizing shared laboratory equipment, including water baths.
  • Managing supply orders to guarantee a seamless workflow.
  • Contributing to general laboratory maintenance as required.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to maintain an organized and well-supplied laboratory environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to protocols for sterile conditions.
  • Proficiency in managing routine tasks while remaining adaptable to address unexpected needs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the capacity to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills within the laboratory team and across departments.
  • A commitment to fostering a collaborative, research-focused atmosphere.

Required Education:
An Associate's degree or higher in a related field.

Preferred Experience:
Laboratory experience is advantageous but not mandatory.

Compensation:
Hourly rate is commensurate with experience.
