Position Summary
The Ellison Institute is in search of a motivated and skilled Laboratory Technician I to become a vital part of our dynamic team. Our institute comprises a diverse array of innovative professionals who thrive in a fast-paced setting, providing essential support for research initiatives, patient care, laboratory studies, and administrative functions.

As a Laboratory Technician I, you will be instrumental in facilitating pivotal research by ensuring that scientists have access to the necessary reagents, tools, and a well-organized workspace. This role offers hands-on experience and the chance to collaborate across multiple departments, enhancing the integration of multidisciplinary efforts to advance groundbreaking research and patient care initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of buffers and solutions to assist in experimental processes.
  • Thorough cleaning and sterilization of laboratory glassware to uphold high-quality standards.
  • Autoclaving of equipment, glassware, and water to ensure maximum cleanliness and safety.
  • Effective management and upkeep of the tissue culture facility to maintain sterile conditions.
  • Assisting with scheduled preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment such as freezers and incubators.
  • Regularly restocking laboratory supplies and communal areas, along with supporting tissue culture needs.
  • Monitoring and regulating CO2 and water levels in incubators to ensure optimal conditions.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of shared laboratory equipment.
  • Managing supply orders to guarantee a seamless workflow.
  • Contributing to general laboratory maintenance as required.

  • Proficiency in maintaining organized and well-supplied laboratory environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to protocols for maintaining sterile conditions.
  • Ability to manage routine tasks while remaining adaptable to unexpected requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the capability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills within the laboratory team and across various departments.
  • A commitment to fostering a collaborative, research-oriented atmosphere.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree or higher in a relevant field.
Field of Expertise:
Laboratory experience is beneficial but not mandatory.

Compensation:
Hourly rate is commensurate with experience.
