Cardiac Rhythm Observer

As a member of a patient care team, and under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Cardiac Rhythm Observer is primarily responsible for the observation, interpretation and monitoring of displayed cardiac rhythms. The Cardiac Rhythm Observer is responsible for reporting promptly and accurately any deviations from baseline.
Key Responsibilities- Monitors cardiac rhythms accurately and reports any deviations from baseline to the Registered Nurse.
- Remains present at the monitor except for breaks or when coverage is arranged.
- Observes and reports any changes in patient rhythms to the Registered Nurse.
- Assists in identifying patient problems with Telemetry monitoring.
- Reports and records data to the Registered Nurse.
- Mounts monitor strips on documentation flow sheet for review by the Registered Nurse.
- Assists in identifying supplies and equipment needed for Telemetry monitoring.
- Experience: Six (6) months experience required.
- Education: High School Diploma/GED.
- License, Certification, Registration: Basic Life Support.
- Additional Requirements: Basic Computer Skills, Knowledge of medical terminology, ability to detect and differentiate abnormal cardiac rhythms.
- Clerical experience preferred.
- Cardiac monitoring/EKG certificate preferred.
