Job Summary

Houston Methodist Academic Institute seeks a highly skilled Research Associate II to join our team. This role is responsible for conducting advanced laboratory experiments with minimal supervision, providing technical research skills, and establishing test methods and procedures under the direction of Department Chairperson or Scientist (Faculty).

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist PI/Faculty in monitoring team of Research Assistants and Post Docs, providing communication of needs, issues, and important information to ensure scientific success.
  • Promote a positive work environment, collaborating with the interprofessional care team to achieve optimal department results.
  • Teach peers and staff to critically think, verbally expressing rationale for decisions and following up consistently.
Essential Functions
  • Organize workflow, problem-solve, anticipate needs, and manage multiple ongoing priorities under the direction of PI/Faculty.
  • Analyze data for research grants and publications, maintaining accurate records of all research and data collection.
  • Complete research, incorporating novel procedures and methods into research experiments as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Terminal Degree with Six years' post-doctoral experience or Master of Science degree with nine years' research experience.
  • Six years' post-doctoral experience with Terminal Degree or nine years' research experience with Master's degree.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrate skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
  • Exhibit ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
