Role Overview:


The Service Operations Technician II will play a crucial role in enhancing the customer experience at our service facilities.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills coupled with exceptional customer service abilities.

You will collaborate daily with internal teams to address service requirements and coordinate with our Service, Vehicle and Delivery Operations, and Field Service Engineering teams.

This position demands a dynamic and resourceful individual with outstanding verbal and written communication skills, who will promote cross-functional collaboration and advocate for a culture of continuous improvement to support both Service teams and customers within a service center.

Success in this role requires a customer-centric approach, the ability to thrive in unpredictable environments, and a creative, adaptable mindset to tackle challenges.

Experience in the automotive sector, process optimization, continuous improvement, and escalation management is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in supporting pre-production vehicle assembly, collaborating with cross-functional teams

Travel to various locations to provide support until the local Service Center is operational, including production facilities

Operate remotely until the local service center is established, if necessary

Adhere to Rivian repair protocols efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards

Conduct or assist with assigned diagnostics, repairs, installations, and inspections on vehicles

Support vehicle repairs in non-service center environments

Perform road tests on vehicles to verify repair quality

Manage parts operations, including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory

Familiarize and explain the Rivian product range, EV framework, tools, and accessories

Stay current with technical skills and required training

Support campaigns and containment initiatives

Maintain accurate expense reporting as necessary

Deliver high-quality work and efficiency while working independently

Ensure proper documentation and technical notes are prepared for internal and external use

Identify improvement opportunities and provide feedback to senior technicians or management

Foster a collaborative attitude and team spirit in a dynamic environment

Provide field service support to enhance the Service organization

Exhibit professionalism in customer-facing interactions

Additional support, including travel, may be required based on business needs

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED preferred

Graduation from an accredited automotive repair program preferred

Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience, preferably in the automotive field

Proficient in the use of hand and power tools

Understanding of basic diagnostics and workflows

Able to interpret electrical schematics

Entry-level diagnostic exposure

Basic understanding of high voltage and low voltage electricity principles

Capability to perform tire repairs and vehicle alignments

Preferred ability to drive non-commercial trucks and trailers

Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, as required


Availability for a regular schedule of 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs.

Shifts may include evenings, overnight, or early morning hours

Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record

Experience in parts departments and billing preferred

Familiarity with work order management systems, including repair documentation

Experience in start-up environments preferred

Demonstrates patience and eagerness to learn

Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail

Physical exertion may be required for occupational tasks (sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.)

Frequent use of hands for grasping tools, entering data, writing communications, or contacting customers or internal partners

Ability to read and speak fluent English

Capability to read and interpret documents such as regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, or schematics.


Availability for a regular schedule of 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs.

Shifts may include evenings, overnight, or early morning hours

Minimum age of 21

No driving-related suspensions or revocations of Driver License (within a 3-5 year period)

Ability to accurately document repairs completed and in progress
