Fleet Technician II Job Description

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong background in automotive and heavy equipment repair and maintenance. As a Fleet Technician II, you will be responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and vehicles, inspecting, diagnosing, and isolating defective, missing, or malfunctioning components of mechanical, hydraulic, fueling, electrical, and pneumatic systems, and identifying, recording, and sourcing parts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and vehicles
  • Inspect, diagnose, and isolate defective, missing, or malfunctioning components of mechanical, hydraulic, fueling, electrical, and pneumatic systems
  • Identify, record, and source parts
  • Coordinate service writing and parts acquisition with supervisor
  • Use software to initiate, record, and track fleet work
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Specialized training in automotive or heavy equipment repair and maintenance
  • Three (3) years of full-time experience in fleet vehicle or equipment repair and maintenance
  • Two (2) Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification tests
  • Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid non-probationary Colorado Driver's License not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
  • Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification
  • Possess, or obtain within 12 months of hire, certification as an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Technician
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with the National Fire Protection Association, Fire Department Safety Officer Association, and Insurance Underwriting Organization standards related to fire apparatus
  • Experience with National Board of Fire Underwriters aerial ladder testing standards, certification methods, and requirements
  • Experience or training with fire service-related vehicle, tools, and equipment service/maintenance including requisite certifications
  • Experience installing mobile radios and in-vehicle laptop computers
