We are seeking a highly skilled Archivist to join our team at Lake Junaluska Assembly Inc. As an Archivist, you will be responsible for overseeing the collection, arrangement, description, preservation, and maintenance of our archival holdings according to professionally accepted archival standards.
Key Responsibilities- Collection Management: Oversee the acquisition, processing, and maintenance of archival collections, ensuring they are properly cataloged and made accessible to researchers.
- Research Assistance: Assist and supervise researchers using the archival collections, providing guidance on the use of archival materials and resources.
- Policies and Procedures: Instruct administrative staff in the use of the archives and work with them to develop policies for staff access to the records.
- Collaboration and Outreach: Work with LJA offices and related organizations to identify and obtain records for addition to the archives on an ongoing basis.
- Resource and Support: Serve as a resource person for LJA staff and community, providing expertise and support as needed.
- Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of professionally accepted archival and basic records management standards, ability to initiate projects, handle multiple tasks, prioritize projects, and work independently.
- Communication and Collaboration: Ability to train and work cooperatively with staff and volunteers, written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, and computer skills.
- Working Conditions: Ability to work in a well-lighted, heated, and air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation, with standard work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday, averaging 20 hours per month.
