We prioritize patient education in symptom management, understanding that informed patients are more successful in managing complex health conditions. Our mission is to enhance patient outcomes through personalized care plans that address the unique needs of each individual.

Our clinic works in conjunction with various specialists within The Queen's University Medical Group, including internal medicine, cardiac rehabilitation, home health, social work, palliative care, and nutrition services, ensuring comprehensive and efficient patient care.

Position Overview

• An Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed healthcare professional responsible for diagnosing, treating, prescribing, and performing or assisting in surgical procedures. APPs collaborate closely with physicians and the healthcare team across all areas of the organization to foster a cohesive care environment. They play a crucial role in developing and implementing patient care strategies.

The APP operates as an expert practitioner, taking on roles as an educator, consultant, researcher, and leader, functioning both independently and in partnership with other healthcare professionals to elevate the quality of care provided.
  • Delivers healthcare services that focus on individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, and the management of both acute and chronic conditions. Direct care responsibilities include obtaining patient histories, conducting thorough physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, performing procedures, and providing education to patients and their families. Indirect care responsibilities may involve establishing nursing practice standards and facilitating professional nursing practices at the bedside.
A Physician Assistant (PA) is a certified individual who practices medicine under the supervision of a physician, performing duties as delegated.
  • Under physician supervision, the PA serves as an expert practitioner, providing healthcare services that encompass health promotion, disease prevention, and the management of various health conditions. Direct care responsibilities include obtaining patient histories, conducting physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and performing procedures within their scope of practice. The PA also plays a vital role in patient and family education and addressing social, economic, and ethical issues relevant to healthcare.
Minimum Qualifications:

A. Education/Certification and Licensure:

• Current Hawaii State license as an APRN or Physician Assistant in good standing.

• If licensed as an APRN, current board certification in one of the following areas:

o Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)

o Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP)

o Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP)

o Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP)

• Prescriptive authority for non-controlled substances.

• Credentialing and privileging required.

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

B. Experience:

• If licensed as an APRN, a minimum of two years of nursing experience or successful completion of an APRN Fellowship Program for any APRN position.

• One year of clinical experience as an APRN or Physician Assistant is preferred.
