Job Overview

Position Title: Individual and Planned Giving Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Individual and Planned Giving Manager acts as the main liaison for individual contributors, addressing inquiries, nurturing relationships, and identifying potential supporters interested in making planned contributions to the organization. This role oversees the daily operations of the Planned Giving Program, working under the guidance of the Vice President, Chief Development and Communications Officer, and directly reporting to the Director of Development. This position primarily operates in an office setting with limited options for remote work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as the primary contact for individual donor inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses from the Development team. Integrates donors into the planned giving cultivation pipeline as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Development to formulate annual objectives and strategies for the Planned Giving initiative, ensuring effective execution.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for current and prospective members of the planned giving society, maintaining regular communication and stewardship.
  • Prepares all necessary correspondence to ensure that donors, trustees, and executors receive appropriate documentation related to bequests and planned gifts.
  • Maintains and updates records of prospective and current planned giving donors in the organization's donor database.
  • Works with the Director of Development and Database Administrator to identify potential planned giving donors within the existing database, ensuring proper tracking of interactions.
  • Coordinates with external vendors to develop marketing materials, including digital and print assets, to promote planned giving opportunities.
  • Researches trends in planned giving and emerging marketing tools, providing insights and recommendations to enhance the planned giving program.
  • Prepares reports on the planned giving program's status, including documentation for auditors and annual reviews.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned, adhering to all organizational policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  1. Required: BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  1. Required:
    1. Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising.
    2. Demonstrated ability to build trust and provide exceptional donor service.
    3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    4. Proficient in MS Office, MSO 365, and donor management software.
  2. Preferred:
    1. Three years of experience in planned giving fundraising, including the development of effective marketing campaigns.
    2. Familiarity with military organizations and their structures.
    3. Understanding of the organization's mission and history.
    4. Customer-service oriented with a solid grasp of donor stewardship practices.
    5. Experience with software for donor and prospect research.
