Marine Surface Preparation Specialist

International Marine and Industrial Applicators (IMIA) is a leading national marine surface preparation painting contractor with a mobile workforce serving every U.S. Port. Our team ensures a quality product is delivered on time every time.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Blaster to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for blasting surfaces to the correct degree of surface preparation, performing repairs to hoses and equipment, and working in close proximity with other blasters in dark spaces.
Key Responsibilities- Perform physical duties under the leadership of the Blast Foreman
- Blast surfaces to standard specifications without leaving faulty areas
- Assist in setting up for the job and training of other workers as necessary
- Complete work with little or no supervision
- Comply with company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations
- Formal or informal on-the-job training and 2 years of experience in the Marine Industry
- Ability to read and write with understanding
- Ability to take verbal direction and follow instructions
The typical work environment is dusty, noisy, and confined. Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, fumes, ambient weather conditions, and hazardous machinery is characteristic. Safety clothing and devices are required to protect eyes, head, or hearing.
