Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Painter to join our team. As a Painter, you will assist in surface preparation, mixing of paint, application of coating, striping, and clean-up. This role requires a willingness to learn and the ability to follow directions concerning painting in the marine industry.

Essential Job Requirements
  • Prepare surfaces for coating according to paint manufacturers' specifications
  • Apply coatings using approved methods, strip tanks in a productive and timely manner, and mix paint as directed
  • Work within OSHA requirements relative to the shipbuilding industry
  • Comply with company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations
  • Accurately operate, clean, and maintain all assigned equipment
  • Properly store equipment and dispose of empty paint and solvent cans
Required Education and Experience

Formal or informal on-the-job training and two years of experience in the application of coatings in the marine industry.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Regularly required to walk, frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, or crawl at various heights and in confined spaces. Required to safely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

Regularly exposed to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, confined spaces, precarious places, and close proximity to other employees.
