SUMMARY:
Under the direct oversight of the Director of Respiratory Therapy, the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) plays a crucial role in delivering therapeutic and diagnostic interventions for patients suffering from respiratory ailments, including those in critical care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Administers therapeutic gases, humidification, medications, and aerosols as part of treatment and diagnostic protocols.
• Provides essential patient education regarding respiratory health.
• Executes physician orders accurately for the administration of medications affecting the cardiopulmonary system.
• Develops and implements effective treatment strategies tailored to individual patient needs.
• Assesses and evaluates treatment outcomes, making necessary adjustments to enhance patient care.
• Conducts fundamental assessments of Arterial Blood Gases, Pulmonary Function Tests, EKGs, and chest X-rays.
• Interprets basic results from Arterial Blood Gases, Pulmonary Function Tests, EKGs, and chest X-rays.
• Engages in communication with the Director of Respiratory Therapy, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient progress and care plans.
• Participates in patient care conferences and weekly rehabilitation discussions as needed.
• Maintains clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory, corporate, and professional standards.
• Records daily treatments and labor in compliance with corporate policies.
• Completes necessary reports and documentation of treatments as per facility guidelines.
• Involved in discharge planning processes.
• Coordinates clinical services with other departments to ensure cohesive and effective patient care.
• Represents the facility professionally in all interactions.
• Collaborates with the Director of Respiratory Therapy on departmental objectives, challenges, and achievements.
• Addresses concerns or conflicts with patients' families, colleagues, or external parties in a professional and courteous manner.
• Adheres to state regulations and national standards relevant to Respiratory Therapy practice.
• Communicates proficiently with professional peers.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
• Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of three years of experience in a relevant clinical environment.
• At least six months of experience with mechanical ventilation.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
• Current Certified Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the applicable state.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
• Must maintain all certifications in good standing throughout employment.
