The College and Career Readiness Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring students at The Goodwill Excel Center (GEC) are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in their post-secondary endeavors. This position will focus on building strong relationships with students, delivering high-impact college and career readiness instruction, and providing support to help students achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain close relationships with students to understand their career and college aspirations and provide guidance on post-secondary planning.
- Design and deliver college and career readiness curriculum in CTE classes, including senior seminar and pathway courses, to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their chosen careers.
- Collaborate with the CCR Team to build and revise course curriculum to align with college and career pathway goals.
- Provide targeted support to students, seniors, and alumni to secure employment and/or enroll in college, including assisting with job and college applications, completing financial aid forms, and holding regular office hours.
- Manage an alumni caseload and maintain close contact with alumni post-graduation to track and ensure student post-secondary employment and college goals are achieved.
- Plan and implement The Excel Expo (career and college fairs) to connect students with desired employment, post-secondary education, and community resources.
- Develop and maintain outreach efforts to all Goodwill Excel Center alumni, staying in contact with and tracking graduated students as they pursue their post-secondary options.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a secondary or higher education setting, career counseling, and/or workforce development.
- Experience in career pathway development and post-secondary planning to support post-secondary goals of students.
- Strong instructional skills and ability to facilitate and make presentations to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and with a team, with excellent written and oral communication skills and strong organizational skills.
